Psychological analysis of the Movie "Level 13?
PSYCHOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF THE MOVIE "LEVEL 13?
During (or before, it is not clear) one of these visits Fuller makes a surprising discovery and before he could reveal it is killed. When they start the investigation, Detective Larry McBain is about to consider it as the result of a random robbery, until circumstances brought to Douglas Hall, the most direct contributor to Fuller, as the prime suspect.
From there police investigation, the appearance of beautiful strangers, travel to and from the simulation, and terrible revelations that will leave each other speechless with surprise.
Rather, it uses the possibilities of the two alternate realities to tell an interesting detective story.
After the death of a business tycoon named Hannon Fuller, his friend Douglas Hall is introduced into a vortex of crime to find that Fuller was a dangerous double life in two parallel worlds, one in 1937 and another this year 2024.
The immediate reference was THE GAME, DARK CITY and MATRIX, (and other examples of television genre as The Truman Show or PLEASANTVILLE) and now comes this level 13, with far fewer claims than the previous two.
Based on the novel by Daniel F. Simulation 3 Galou, has been widely criticized in the U.S. for its similarities to MATRIX, arguably the best sci-fi movie of 1999. Virtual realities, parallel worlds, computers. All this makes up the universe created in LEVEL 13 but further relativizing perception of reality.
The world is a simulation or something artificially constructed
It seems unavoidable to look back to the other embodiments, even better production than it, take it as a central ontological connotations "what is reality", "how is built the world"? and simulation as an experiment.
Of course for me (or for the film) is a new issue is framed only in virtual space, imaginary ... in addition to presenting the subject of a reality show and a protagonist who is aware of this fact and choose to rebel. Other films like Matrix, the characters live in virtual reality generated by a computer, and Dark City, home to a huge mock city as it is, ultimately, the dream of a vicious alien race. The scenario naive Truman Show Unreal presented in the search for reality, so all players looking for a reality that has been artificially made to control them. and that we must find the true reality behind the illusion and reality as the critics say: "His discovery equals or leads to an act of rebellion, of contempt of the established order?, The Matrix has in common with the notion Show that, in a sense, the simulation is "real" than reality.
Some people find similarity in the situation described in the film with the famous thesis of hyperreality expressed by Jean Baudrillard and other theorists of culture since the late 70's. Hyperreality appears in a culture when it weakens the opposition that separates the real from the imaginary, the original simulation. "The real and imaginary exist only at a distance Baudrillard writes. What happens when such a distance, even separating the real from the imaginary, begins to disappear and be absorbed by the model only?" The answer is that we are entering a world "ruled by the principle of simulation," where the real and the model have changed places, and where is the "reality" that is subject to the model. An illustration of this phenomenon is Baudrillard's work of Philip K. Dick, where the universe described "is not possible or impossible, is not real nor unreal. It is hyperreal. It is a universe of simulation, which is something totally different." Have some theorists have challenged the theories of Baudrillard, not the fact that some of the world is moving into an era of simulation, but the claim has been effectively erased the border between reality and simulation / movie reviews.
As presented in the theoretical frameworks of the module then we can ask if these films are just a reworking of an old idea late or if there are any differences or new item in the current versions of the same. As Richard Rorty says: The truth is "what is best for us to believe
The cultural industry and market globalization
The global consumer culture causes changes in values and even addictive behaviors. The products of the entertainment industry too simple transmit values, according to the requirements of the products to the masses. It's very fashionable to treat as relative reality of what can not be sure and, moreover, is manipulated by entities beyond the limited understanding that gives us our human condition.
This culture deified, in which the ultimate goal is to achieve integration of the individual in society and consumerism has become "idea of happiness?.
This fragment of Module 5 is a connection two basic ideas of the features typical postmodernist one: that of spontaneity not see the references in this movie and purpose that gives the director and entrepreneur in this globalization.
Reviewed data of their creators and economic objectives:
Director: Josef Rusnak The Mexican entrepreneurs engaged in the business of communications found in the use of telecommunications the true meaning of the global village. The possibility of having an expanded market with a number of potential products for consumers and new portions eager to try the new technological marvels that the business was likely to grow in a few years.
A slipstream of American industries, converting a collection of domestic business in a single global business with an integrated comprehensive strategy is one of the biggest challenges for businesses today. From the economic point of view the changes in the operating logic of the audiovisual sector have been among others:
The liberalization of audiovisual services / audiovisual market globalization concentration around the capital sometimes called 'information hypersector' / integration of different sectors and activities or convergence between the audiovisual and telecommunications industry. And that has affected every industrial activity from content production to the design of systems for transmission / reception creating a new model for the development of the audiovisual industry (This paragraph is extracted from the newspaper El Pais, section Shows signed JO)
The cultures in which we live and work are being invaded, more than ever, artistic production of industrialized countries. that transform your audience and force them to change their ways of working. and this usually means leaving one's ideological baggage and identity as in the film where each character takes multiple identities, and change as long as is useful and functional.
Until now. there is no indication that the next future will bring that flow of ideas. as announced. - As mentioned in the previous work of "group five?: We are in a process that has not ended and the emergence of the virtual inputs at a time of crisis has caused great ideals while increased leisure-time and perhaps the strengthening of relativism and passivity. Virtual human relationships have become more important and sometimes lead to confusion between reality and fiction. This film ends up hosting a fictional character "with more soul than real? to reality. This parodies the current situation on friendships, love relationships over the Internet, where the signs of identity such as age, culture does not exist.
The information society and new technologies
Virtualization processes are enrolled in a social and historical dimension. that began in parallel with the expansion of telephony and cinema. This has resulted is a change in the axis of the culture shifts from writing as social and language to limit speech. Slowly, our symbolic universe begins to move away from normative and rigid codes of Enlightenment culture towards more flexible codes of mass culture has expanded Radio stations including a new form of our alphabet code to incorporate new codes (also tbn = X = by ....) new forms of narrative and ideological.
In these processes begin to develop virtualization Virtual city, cosmopolitan and consumerist definition brings with it new ways of thinking about politics, ethics, entertainment, and everyday life. The virtual city makes half of society and advertising language of politics. "Society becomes the 'support' the discourse of advertising media. The sales pitch as the heart of the discourse of society, as it radiates from the restricted space originally allocated to advertising, opening up the entire space of the society:
"So, advertising has to compete globally with the political discourse as the only fit speech to account for the collective ... The sales pitch is not a parody of political discourse but an alternative to it. Quessada quote.
Advertising appropriates public space, and beyond the media space to flood streets, vehicles and T-shirts that advertising (part) is taken by society (the whole). And celebrated as a place cohexión consumption.
It is satisfied that: The globalization process is not intended to promote greater egalitarianism, Lasch (1983) this neoindividualismo not a strengthening of self but a survival strategy to the social, economic and political crisis. Individuals invest their efforts if them. The beauty, youth, happiness, personal success, are increasingly demanded as a right. A huge range of new products and services becomes the advertising offered by a public increasingly segmented, through which the consumer believes to live in a free, pluralistic and democratic.
The education they receive through the image is an emotional, intuitive and thoughtless, with serious consequences for the development of critical citizenship. H. Echo
In the environment we analyze a film's visual language leaves little room for criticism.
The process between modernity and postmodernity
The early rhetoric of the electronic frontier: loneliness, individualism, the need for ingenuity and even the suggestion of a sense of mission. Against the nihilism and suspicion of enlightened reason, no totalizing truths, fascination with the images of consumption are the result of the destruction of another model of individual and social cohesion, as are the rhythms of life cycle and the need for a social and geographical location. The days and nights have gone into this globalization, in the coding. Old age is no longer a source of authority to become a sign of disability. You can work with a computer anywhere and, in fact, to avoid losing work you have to be willing to relocate, which participates little in local social organizations and does not belong anywhere. The social landscape of the computer industry, without religion, politics, family, history or obligations to a particular place, is a version of the individuals who manage unaided. But what if I do not know or can not?
Cultural Identity, Stuart Hall tells us, is both what we will be as we are, our identities "are the names we give to the Different Ways We Are Positioned by, and position ourselves Within, the narratives of the past" (Hall: 706). Our relationship with the past it will always be linked to our memory. But our memory is not fixed, there is a winery where the past remains intact, waiting to be called the present. Past experience can not be repeated exactly, it is necessary to build new memory or event in each collection.
Contrary to the search for the truth that these films focus there other opinions and other texts like the following advertising rather converted and manifested by a conformist identity.
Fragment of a song of the moment that has been disseminated to crush the ears:
I'm just an actor who forgot his screenplay, after all just words that say nothing The days go by, The light of dawn, My soul, my body, my voice, do not serve anything I would not give to have your eyes, as always As long as everything changes both because without you I am nothing without you I'm nothing without you I am nothing.
Amaral razed in 2002 with awards in almost every musical category: MTV Europe award for Best Spanish group, Waves award for best song from her new album, "Without you I am nothing?; Latin Grammy nomination for best album, Woman Award for Best Spanish group, and gold and platinum discs for this latest production.
In postmodern society all the latest technologies:. Biotechnology, artificial intelligence, robotics, computing, media, marketing and publishes a communication converge becomes "unique voice?. How the huge volume of information circulating today is generating meaningful to the people? Said M. Horkheimer atrophy of imagination and spontaneity of the current cultural consumers need not be reduced to psychological mechanisms. The same products, starting with the film, following the music ... paralyzed by its own constitution objective such powers.
Clearly youth, perhaps because it is in the delicate process of training and experiences that will help distinguish it or not, are at an especially devious deception that comes through the language that dominates the surrounding culture today. Youth is now half the world's population, has enormous potential as consumers and is a way to transform the ethical values of society. This makes them prey coveted by those who seek to replace other values ethical depersonalizing. A youth so highly manipulable. And hence the danger of the text of this song that the song has been widely honored by the appointment under the snippet of the song .. Let us hope that not only was the letter, but it (the semantic content) reaches our cognitive system better than the music (phonological content) Lasch (1983) this neoindividualismo not a strengthening of the ego but a survival strategy to the social, economic and political crisis. Individuals invest their efforts in themselves. The beauty, youth, happiness, personal success, are increasingly demanded as a right.
A huge range of new products and services becomes the advertising offered by a public increasingly segmented, through which the consumer believes to live in a free, pluralistic and democratic.
This film does not talk about culture, in the sense that we know only of worlds / states imaginary or not at different times. Just visualize transfer of technology and consciousness.
The technique therefore has become a new self-preserving reason that manifests itself by a conformist identity.
Add a verse in your rhyme though repetitive, I think that reflects the theme and the Truman Show.
The imaginary man
imaginary lives in a mansion
imaginary tree-lined
at the edge of an imaginary river
The walls that are imaginary
old paintings hang imaginary
irreparable cracks imaginary
depicting imaginary facts
place in imaginary worlds
imaginary places and times
Every afternoon imaginary
up the stairs imaginary
and balcony overlooking the imaginary
to watch the imaginary landscape
which consists of an imaginary valley
surrounded by hills imaginary
Imaginary shadows
come for the imaginary path
singing songs imaginary
the death of imaginary sun
And in the imaginary moon
imaginary dream woman
that gave him his imaginary love
again feel the same pain
the same imaginary pleasure
and returns to beat
imaginary man's heart

If these technologies were our next single culture, I have the conviction that everything superfluous fall: fall fashion, bodies fall, fall shopping for what?, Would drop the language of advertising, false identities fall. And we would have a common area with a multitude of mental representations designed not to pessimism but to an enhanced identity of each individual to individual, where the simulation automatically fall into the void.? Because the meaning of life would be true knowledge, true knowledge which is the way of man?.
