How to Hire Bloggers and start your own blog network - Part 1
Looking at the number of blog networks that are around, I wonder what it is like to start one of my own. I'm sure you're familiar with names like 9rules, b5media, Gothamist, Weblog, TechCrunch and more. Yes, they are all the blog networks.
Now, there is a misconception here. At the time of writing, I started a blog network of my own, but wanted to know how you can do.
While browsing through a list of network of blogs that I found online, I came across a familiar name - Paul Short.
Short Paul and I were counselors in a private forum about a year back. Paul and I each have our unique experience when it comes to running an online business. I do a lot of list-building programs and membership, while Paul is a master of blogging and search engine optimization.
And just know, in the past year or so, Paul has been quitely build his network of small blog. It's called media Gomaud.
When I heard about this, I sent an e-mail Paul and asked him if he'd help me with this problem. I want to know how to hire bloggers and build a network of blogs. I was not sure I would do it, but I really want to learn how you can do.
So he answered and then we got on the phone talking about the one thing - how to hire bloggers and start a blog network.
The call lasted for over an hour. And Paul shared the interesting things about how to start your own blog network. One of the things was about where and how to find a good blogger to blog for you.
It 'hard training people how to write and blog. If you want someone to blog for you, it is best to get a true blogger. Perhaps there are few things you can teach bloggers, those people should do something one day and things like that. But in general, you want someone who is already blogging because they are already familiar with the technology and culture.
To do this, you can look at sites like Technorati and Digg. These two sites to index the content of blogs from around the world. What you need to do is look for blogs in the niche that you are pursuing.
Now, here's a tip when looking for a blogger. Find a blogger who has his / her voice when writing. What I mean is that they have opinions on things and not just sit on the fence all the time. Why? Because bloggers like this will attract more readers. People always want to know what you think.
Now that you have your blogger, you can start building your blog.
How do you work with your blogger? From what I understand, if it's your blog, you must prepare the blog, do hosting, get domain name, do all the design, optimization done, install all plug-ins, do all the marketing. .. and your bloggers will just log in and blog.
And since you pay a blogger? Well, there are a lot of templates you can use. But for Paul, he has about $ 5 per post and expects about 60 to 100 seats. But when revenue from the blog grows to a certain level, you could go to a revenue-sharing model. But I think by the end of the day, you should talk to your blogger and agree on something that both of you are comfortable with.
I think it's a fair deal.
Of course, Paul and I talked things over during the call. We talked about how much to pay a blogger, how to promote your blog, how to monetize your blog and much more. But I can not tell you everything that Paul has shared with me, without having to write a novel.
But I think, getting a blogger is a step in starting your own blog network ....
