Overcoming barriers - Team Building in Chaos
In this day and time of global economic crisis, fear and uncertainty of all employers and employees must have a front mindset focused and positive. Each child or team leader of an organization must first look at themselves. You can not build a team without a first look at themselves. It always begins with you. You can actually teach only what model constantly.
I have over 25 years as Senior Sales Executive Fortune 500, medium sized and start-up motivating, empowering and coaching successful high-performance sales teams that he has issued enviable sales results. It all started with me having a positive mental attitude and passes it along to my team. We can not tolerate negativity in teammates or the organization as a whole - is like a cancer and must be cut off.
The negativity will suck all the energy of a business - like a vacuum, you will find that it is hard to be energetic when negativity is the prevailing atmosphere. To have energy, must remain positive, energy is a byproduct of a positive attitude. You can not feel positive and lethargic and pulled out at the same time. Yes, you can experience the long hours of hard work, frustration at not getting enough done in one day, afraid to make that presentation, or call the prospect, but you can not lose your energy when you have the power of thought positive behind you!
Therefore, the first thing that should be obvious is the leader must be positive in your mind, body and spirit. In the second place, the leader must be adaptable and flexible. He or she must model this and expect this from every team member.
"Rigidity is one of the worst human feelings. You can learn to control the impetuosity, overcome fear with confidence, and laziness with discipline. But the rigidity of mind there is no antidote. Bring seeds of its own destruction. " Author unknown.
The following are what I call the four Cs of team building, as I learned in my years of building high performance sales teams.
1. Highly communication - Communication is absolutely essential for success. Open communication fosters trust and confidence is the basis for all successful relationships. To improve communication:
- Be candid - Your goal should be to tell the truth, but deliver us with kindness.
- Be Quick - State the problem or concern within 24 hours. Do not let it rot.
- Be inclusive - do not collect information. To be fair, if necessary, even if open communication increases the confidence, trust increases the property and ownership strengthens participation.
2. Highly collaborative - all your strength is in union.
- See teammates as collaborators, not competitors. This is huge in the sense that it must be seekers of glory for themselves in the team.
- Be supportive, not suspicious of teammates.
- Focus on your team, not yourself. This is a relay race, not a sprint. There is but as a TEAM.
3. Highly competent - You can not build a great team without great players. You can lose, but you can not win without them. The major players:
- We are committed to excellence - indicators of excellence our value to our potential not on a comparison with others.
- Never settle for average - they always give their best.
- Pay attention to details - Dale Carnegie said: "Do not be afraid to do your best to what seemingly are small jobs Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger If you do the little jobs well, great. . those tend to take care of themselves. "
- Run with perseverance - They give better all the time.
4. Committed - "The more you work the harder it is to surrender." Vince Lombardi.
- Commitment is in the midst of battle.
- Commitment has nothing to do with your gifts and abilities.
- The commitment comes as no choice conditions.
Commitment lasts when it is based on values. Tie your commitments to your values. There is no such thing as a warm sample.
These are very difficult times we all face. As team leader and team players we need all the positive, high-performance employees can go on the team. As we manage through this current chaos we all remember we can change our attitudes and certain to have a positive mental attitude. In addition, we are able to take personal responsibility to be agents of change and be the best players we can be experiencing the four Cs of team building.
Employers want and need leaders who are change agents able to communicate clearly, are collaborative, competent and committed. They want problem solvers. Are you ready to overcome barriers and be a team leader. It will add value to you, your employer and others .......
