Differentiate the brand-it-Sell


If your company is like most, the products you sell or services they offer are pretty much the same as those of your competitors. In academia, the business students are taught that in order to attract customers, a business must differentiate their products and services. This is a good idea to know and understand, but the hardest part of this task is to figure out how to create these differences and how to communicate them to your prospects so they will understand.

A very effective method of differentiation is branding your product or service because most of the effort is spent in the creation of words and graphics instead of creating differences in the item itself. The first step is to discover the factors that your customers need, want, or are willing to pay and create a name that communicates these key factors. Highlight the name, make it attractive, with a graphic logo, explain with a tag line and ensure every opportunity to create the brand. Use the logo on packaging and signage. Use the mark every time you talk about your product or service brand. Soon you will have prospects asking about it and that customers who buy.

The brand product or service should not be particularly different from those offered by competitors. Look, lenders sell loans or, in fact, the rent money. They came up with all kinds of brand names for their loans based on use for the money, easy applications, speed of the application process, the size and the friendliness of the institution, but the product (money hiring) is exactly the same by each company loans.

Analyze what you sell. Somewhere in this mix there are a number of brandable products, services, systems, processes, or attitudes that can be improved, differentiated, and made more salable by the branding process. Listen to your customers ask questions and problems they are looking for solutions. Your brandable name could be the answer to these questions or the solution to their problems.
